29.01.2021 – The await is mounting ahead of the Rally di Roma Capitale, the round valid for the European FIA ERC Championship and Italian Rally 2021 Championship that will bring the spectacle of Italian and International rally again on the roads of the Capital.
The staff of Motorsport Italia led by Max Rendina, had to take a difficult decision in the past few hours, which was necessary to continue with the intense work ahead of edition 2021 of the rally that will feature several novelties, especially in terms of the itinerary. This new and spectacular shape of the Rally di Roma Capitale will be unveiled shortly but unfortunately it will not include the Lido of Ostia as the uncertain sanitary situation due to the Covid-19 emergency does not allow to plan a great spectacle involving fans like the Motorsport Village.
“Since when we started thinking about the Motorsport Village in Ostia – Max Rendina explained, – this event has been devised and developed to get spectators, enthusiasts and interested people involved. We have a lot of ideas and we were ready last year and for this year we also defined a small exhibition that would have coloured the seafront of the town with several recreational activities, stands and the adrenaline of the spectacle of the Rally di Roma Capitale”.
In the past few months the collaboration with Comune di Roma, Municipio X and ASCOM – the Traders Association – has been fundamental. This synergy allowed us to devise several interesting ideas to highlight the centrality of the territory in the Ostia project, like for example the creation of a White Night festival during the weekend of the Rally di Roma Capitale.
“We all know the present national and international sanitary situation – Rendina continued, – and to organize an event of this size several months of planning, requests of permits and agreements are needed, and in this uncertain situation in which the Decree Laws set the pace for the decisions it is not possible to define a precise schedule. On top of this, limiting the access or completely blocking access to the Motorsport Village would completely denature the project. The Rally di Roma Capitale simply cannot be in Ostia without the excitement and the passion of the fans”.
These are the motivations that led to the decision to postpone the Motorsport Village to 2022, hoping for a more stable situation that can allow for the implementation of one of the internationally recognized distinctive and unique features of the Rally di Roma Capitale, together with the parade in Rome’s city center.
